OUR HISTORY
TRALEE BAY CARAVAN & CAMPING PARK
In 1984, our parents, Pauline and Brian Shellcock moved to Tralee Bay on the beautiful west coast of Scotland and bought Tralee Bay Caravan and Camping Park – a traditional 60s/70s campsite with tourers and tents.
SELF CATERING HOLIDAY PARK
In 1990, we decided to concentrate on self-catering and closed the camping side of the business to focus on creating a self-catering holiday park, where people could come and relax, re-energise and enjoy what this beautiful area has to offer.
WOODLAND WALK
In 1993, we acquired the adjacent woodland, which enabled us to further develop the lodge side of the business and also create two lochans.
3 BROTHERS TOOK OVER THE BUSINESS
In 1997 Brian and Pauline took a back seat and handed over the reigns of the business to their children, the 3 brothers David, Ian & Richard. Over the following years the focus was to further develop the business, with the design and build of our own lodges and purchase a further 15 lodges due to the demand.
NEW PARK: HIGHFIELD HOLIDAYS
In 2016, we bought a 7-acre croft, a 2-minute walk from Tralee and have developed a caravan and glamping site with 50 pitches and 9 luxury glamping pods with hot tubs.
THIRD GENERATION JOINED THE BUSINESS
As a family-owned and family-run holiday park, we’re proud to announce that by 2018, the third generation joined our business. We cherish the continuity of family involvement, ensuring that our values and traditions are upheld. This legacy allows us to provide a warm, personal touch in everything we do.
TRALEE BAY COASTAL PARKS
Since 2024, we rebranded to TRALEE BAY COASTAL PARKS, a unified name encompassing both Tralee Bay Holidays and Highfield Holidays. By merging these two parks under one umbrella, we're providing a diverse range of holiday experiences in our stunning coastal setting in West Scotland and also positioning ourselves as a destination where reconnecting with nature takes precedence, while creating cherished memories with loved ones.
AUTISM ON THE WATER
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Tralee Bay Coastal Parks has become a proud major sponsor of Autism on the Water (AOTW). Our family-run holiday park is now lending its full support to this remarkable charity that works tirelessly to provide life-changing opportunities for autistic people through sailing.
Led by our General Manager, Patrick Shellcock, who is also the cousin of AOTW’s founder, Murray MacDonald, makes this collaboration even more meaningful and personal.
Patrick expressed, “We couldn’t be happier to support Autism on the Water. What Murray and his team do is truly inspiring, and we are proud to be part of their mission. Together, we’re not just offering financial backing but actively working to raise awareness and create opportunities for families with autism to enjoy meaningful holidays here at Tralee.”
In addition to sponsorship, we at Tralee are eager to contribute by developing ways for families with autistic members to access and enjoy their time at our park. We’ll be working closely with AOTW to design inclusive strategies to ensure that our facilities are welcoming and accessible to all. It’s an initiative close to our hearts, and we’re excited to play our part in giving back.
